5th Avenue Suites Hotel is now Hotel Monaco Portland
Under the same ownership and management, Kimpton Hotels Group, the 5th Avenue Suites became the Hotel Monaco Portland in early February 2007.
Why such a dramatic change? No, we didn't sell lthe hotel, nor do we plan to. The simple reality is the 5th Avenue Suites has reached its ten-year mark. And we believed this acclaimed hotel deserved more than a mere renovation, but rather, a complete revitalization and renewal befitting one of Portland's landmark buildings.
So let's talk about what changed - and what didn't.
Under the world-renowned expertise of designer Cheryl Rowley, the elegance of 5th Avenue Suites was transformed into the luxurious chic of the Hotel Monaco Portland. You've probably heard of the Hotel Monaco name - it's recognized in almost every major metropolitan city in North America. But while every Hotel Monaco is known for being more daring than predictable, more colorful than neutral, each hotel is different, a world in itself.
In fact, the Hotel Monaco Portland represents the "next generation" of this remarkable hotel collection. Drawing inspiration from Portland's classical Chinese gardens and the hotel's European interior architecture, Cheryl Rowley's vision of an exotic mix of Anglo-Chinois influences will captivate guests the moment they walk into the Hotel Monaco Portland.
Every guest room will include 32" plasma flat screen TV, DVD players, silent refrigerators, lighted cosmetic mirrors, linens with higher thread counts, and completely new furnishings that reflect the signature Monaco style of luxury, color, and whimsy. And nightly turn down service will be automatic, instead of by request only.
Of course, all of these new amenities won't matter much to you if the outstanding service you've become accustomed to changes. It hasn't.
